Preventing Dog Bites : What to do ?

Dog lovers can prevent bites by following the rule : Think! Stay calm! Don't move!

What is more natural than the friendship between a child and his dog?  One can be kind to a dog and even be it's friend.  However, it is important that children know how to manage a dog in total security - even their own.

  1) Think! Dog lovers ask good questions. Do you know this dog? Do you know how to safely approach a dog? Is it dangerous to pass near this dog?

You do not know?  Do not go!

2) Stay calm!

Dog lovers stay calm when they approach dogs.

They know that some dogs get agitated - when

 we  yell or run

when we ride a bicycle near them.

And above all never forget that dog lovers never ever tease dogs.  

                  3) Do not move!

If the dog looks mean or growls , stop and do not move! Do not cry and do not run.

  Look away.

  Keep your hands and fingers hidden.

  If a dog pushes you down, turn face downward.

  Cover your neck .

  Wait until the dog leaves.

  Dog bites can be avoided by educating and making dog owners responsible. Are you doing your part?
